Information for people making a payment

How to pay a fine, fee, or bill

Your court or agency uses GovPayPlan to take payments. The agency decides what you owe. We move the money and send you a receipt. This page explains where to pay, what the fee is, how to check that a payment page is real, and who to contact if something goes wrong.

1. Find the payment page

Use the link or QR code on your notice, citation, or bill, or the payment link on the agency’s official website. govpayplan.com is the company website, not a payment page.

2. Check the page and look up what you owe

The agency’s name appears at the top of the page. Enter the case, citation, or account number from your notice. The balance shown is the balance the agency set. If the name or number does not match your notice, stop and call the agency.

3. Review the fee and pay

The fee is shown as a separate line before you confirm. Pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App, or bank account.

4. Keep your receipt

You will get a receipt by email as soon as you pay. Some agencies also send a text. Save it. The agency can see your payment right away.

About the fee

Paying by card or bank account costs money to process. You pay that cost as a fee added to your total, and the full amount you owe goes to the agency. The exact fee is shown on the screen before you confirm. For most agencies it is 4% or 5% on card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Cash App payments, with a $2.00 minimum, and 2% on bank account payments, with a $1.00 minimum.

Cash, checks, and money orders paid at the agency counter carry no fee. If your payment is refunded after it has settled, the fee is not refunded.
