What terminal options are available?

Two models cover most agencies. The standalone countertop terminal for staffed payment windows is $720 one-time, or $30 per month to rent with a 3-month minimum. The mobile wireless terminal for field use, probation visits, court events, and mobile collections is $480 per year, or $45 per month to rent with a 3-month minimum, with advance replacement included. Every terminal ships fully configured: encryption keys injected, software loaded, and cables or charger included.

Can we get terminals at no charge?

Yes, at volume. Agencies processing $500,000 or more in annual gross payment volume receive one standalone terminal at no charge. Agencies processing $1,000,000 or more receive standalone terminals for every staffed payment window plus one mobile terminal subscription at no charge. Qualification uses documented prior-year volume for new agencies and trailing 12-month GovPayPlan volume at renewal.

What happens if a terminal breaks?

Purchased terminals carry the manufacturer’s one-year hardware warranty. Rentals and mobile subscriptions include advance replacement. A fully configured replacement ships before the defective unit is returned.

Countertop and mobile payment terminals

GovPayPlan supplies two terminal models: a countertop terminal for staffed payment windows and a mobile wireless terminal for visits, events, and satellite offices. Both accept EMV chip, contactless tap, and magstripe. Both use point-to-point encryption and arrive with encryption keys injected, software loaded, and cables or charger included.

In-person card and wallet payments are charged the same rate as online payments. There is no separate card-present rate. Qualification for terminals at no charge uses documented prior-year volume for new agencies and trailing 12-month GovPayPlan volume at renewal.

What happens at the window

Staff select the payer record or enter the reference; the terminal calculates the remaining balance automatically.
The payer inserts, taps, or swipes. Card data is encrypted inside the device and is not sent to the agency workstation.
The payment posts to the same ledger as online payments, with the same receipt, status, and audit entry.
Customer and merchant receipts print or send by email and text.
Cash, check, and money order payments taken at the same window are recorded by the Cashier user. No processing fee applies.
